Graham uses his distinctive, sultry natural alto voice to blend elements of jazz, blues, classical and alternative adult contemporary pop to create a unique experience. His avant-garde, almost vaudevillian, presentation underlies themes of evolution and transformation which define these unique performances which harken back to the seductive decadence of 1920's Weimar Cabaret, coupled with the old school glamour of 1950's Divas and Crooners. With a fast growing reputation at home and abroad, Graham has been hailed as the Vanguard of "Cabaret Noir" an emerging genre of music blending influences from others and known for its dark subjects and emotional impact.
At Avenue by Nick Munier, Graham will be hosting a Gatsby Themed evening. Paying homage to the Music Hall days of Dietrich, Piaf and Ella while incorporating his own unique take on contemporary artists such as Bowie, Anohni and Sia. To create a sense of occassion embodying the spirit of the 20's, audience members will be encouraged, but not expected, to dress in a style they feel embodies the era. Audience members that get in the spirit will be rewarded with a free signature shot provided by the wonderful Nick Munier and his staff at Avenue.
Graham J will be joined on the night by his band Orpheus Blues which includes the all girl Retrospect String Quartet.
