- How did the connection with DJ Rush / KneeDeep happen in the beginning?
It happened in a really strange way. i had already been producing for a while and one guy from Germany found me on on mp3.com which I used to share my first tracks. Its a longer story but he burned 10 tracks by me and passed it to DJ Rush who picked 8 of them for my first ever 2 EPs ;)
- How it has Techno evolved / changed over the years in Slovakia?
It's been huge in the past and then when EDM came to the club market Techno was pushed away by other styles. Now its returning back to underground thanks to EDM ;) Clubs and dark halls! those the native places for techno, so it's in a good way again I think.
- Who have been your greatest influences from Slovakia & why?
All of the original U-club DJ's from the Standa booking agency!
those early days showed me great DJ skills and music which influence me.
- What is in your current production setup ? and what are your favourite tools?
My setup is really simple. Ableton and some VSTs nothing special.
- What has been your favourite traveling experiences while DJing?
I always like to travel so my favourite experience is traveling itself - anytime :D
- How have you enjoyed your times playing in Dublin - tell us about your connection with Dublin?
I really loved it there. I have friends there who have lived there for a while now and one of them already invited me to play in the summer to small place which was really packed - I enjoyed every single mix I made with them. Hope we will repeat!
- Do you plan any new Releases?
I am working on some tracks which will be released on a big name techno label. more info soon ;)
- What are your plans for the year ahead 2015?
Not really planning things ahead - we will see ;)
- What are your thoughts on Aphex Twin playing your tracks at Glastonbury?
Actually I didn't know it until Jon told me this :D

DJ BOSS has not always been a boss. He was born in the Slovak town of Piešťany. A place known for its healing mud and he was named Slavo Brtáň. He had never imagined that one day he would shine like a star in the European techno scene.
At the beginning of his carreer he had to fight for his 5 minutes behind the wheels at the end of a party. Today the promoters have to do the same to get Boss to their event because there is often absence on free dates in his calendar.
DJ BOSS began working on his first own tracks in 1995. The hard work paid off five years later when his EP "Parameter Jedna" (“Parameter One”) was published under the DJ Rush label Kne' Deep. Slovak Techno rider immediately became a star and is now a recognised producer, DJ and remixer whose name is a quality brand across the European techno scene. By managing to create his own powerfull sound that’s full of energy and broken beats typical for the famous Slovak Techno music he has ensured that his records stand out among the flood of similar tracks people are used to.
DJ BOSS releases his music under his own label “Dole Gate”. Any record from this label is in demand, because it offers an original sound and uncommon ideas. Dole Gate can be heard at parties all around the world regulary played by top DJs.
DJ BOSS is one of the few DJs who use mainly his own tracks in his mixed sets, leaving people in no doubt they are listening to a unique phenomenon. Just look at posters promoting festivals and parties all over Europe. Is it a coincidence that DJ BOSS has top position on most of them?
DJ BOSS has made more than ten of his own EPs. In addition to Dole Gate and Kne' Deep the labels Boss recorded under include Mechanisms Industries, Reverse Vinyl and Planet Rhythm Records. His tracks have appeared on many compilations and mixes while his remixes have been adopted by many European techno producers and DJs.
DJ BOSS as one of only a small number of Slovak DJs has managed to rise from the very bottom to the top of the current techno scene. This is confirmed by the list of famous DJs he has shared a stage with (as well as recorded with) - Dave Clarke, Speedy J, Jeff Mills, Westbam, Radial and DJ Rush. As a producer he has also cooperated with Marián Čekovský, Dara Rollins, Toky(RUMENIGE), Dalo (LOKTIBRADA) and other stars of the local Czech and Slovak music scene.
DJ BOSS is undoubtedly a star of any techno party and is never absent from a major festival. He has performed at clubs in Great Britain, Bulgaria, Spain, Ireland, Netherlands and… Well, it would probably be easier to name the European countries where he has not played yet.
